Dr. Joseph Dalhoon Chun, Medical Director at Orange Hospice

Joseph Dalhoon Chun, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Chun brings decades of broad clinical expertise and genuine warmth to his role as Medical Director at Orange Hospice. A graduate of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he completed residency training at LA County-USC Medical Center, the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and UCLA Medical Center across internal medicine, pediatrics, pathology, and allergy and immunology.

Licensed in California since 1987, Dr. Chun has spent his career in general medicine with a commitment to seeing the whole person, not just the diagnosis. That perspective supports hospice care that honors a patient's medical history, comfort, and dignity.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chun enjoys time with family and friends and serves his community as an elder in his church ministry.

Joy Park, RN, BSN

Hospice Nurse

Joy has dedicated more than 15 years to hospice nursing, providing compassionate, expert care to patients and families during life's most tender moments. A graduate of Angeles College and a California Registered Nurse, she combines clinical care with a deeply human approach.

Joy supports families with guidance, education, and emotional support as they make sense of a terminal diagnosis. She is especially moved by helping families move from fear and confusion toward acceptance, gratitude, and meaningful time together.

Outside of work, Joy enjoys creating handcrafted beadwork, including keychains, phone straps, and one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Darlene Benavidez, MSW, Medical Social Worker at Orange Hospice

Darlene Benavidez, MSW

Medical Social Worker

Darlene earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 2013 and a Master's degree in Social Work with a concentration in geriatrics in 2015. She began her hospice career immediately after graduate school and has served as a hospice medical social worker for more than 11 years.

Her work has taught her to sit with discomfort, lean into difficult moments, and find purpose in them. Darlene sees hospice as more than end-of-life care: it is a place where patients and families receive guidance, support, and compassion during a vulnerable time.

She is honored to walk alongside patients and their loved ones with presence, listening, and support that reaches beyond clinical care.

Peter Park, D.Min, Hospice Chaplain at Orange Hospice

Peter Park, D.Min

Hospice Chaplain

Peter brings a lifetime of pastoral devotion to his role as Hospice Chaplain at Orange Hospice, offering patients and families spiritual care grounded in ministry, scholarship, and compassion.

His journey in faith and service began in Seoul, South Korea. He was ordained as a pastor in 2004 and has served churches in South Korea and Southern California, including as a Senior Pastor since 2012. He has also led disability ministry and special education through House of Peace in Santa Fe Springs.

Since 2012, Peter has walked alongside hospice patients and their families, offering a steady, gentle presence that respects every faith and spiritual background.

Education
Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary & College and Chongshin University (The Presbyterian General Assembly); Doctor of Ministry in Missiology from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena.
Professional background
Pastoral ministry since 1997; ordained pastor since 2004; hospice chaplain since 2012.

Orange Hospice Team

We fulfill our mission with a team-based approach. The team members are:

Nurses

The nurses create care plans for all our patients. These plans are coordinated with the doctors and everyone else on the team. Nurses also monitor patients’ vital signs and maintain records of potential concerns. The nurses also administer medicine, IV drips, prescriptions, or shots. They are involved in the overall health of our patients and educate their families on how to care for them.

HOSPICE AIDES

Our aides offer direct and personal care to your loved one. They help patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, hygiene, day-to-day tasks, and chores.

Bereavement Specialists

The bereavement team gives families emotional support and resources. It includes sending letters of support.

Spiritual Counselors

The spiritual counselors help patients and families with their spiritual needs. They also offer direct counseling on spiritual matters, as well as referrals. They cater to all religious and spiritual backgrounds.

SOCIAL WORKERS

Social workers assess patients’ and their families’ social and financial well-being and offer direct counseling where needed. Our social workers can refer you to community and governance resources and help families apply for support.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers offer companionship to patients as well as their families. They can also help with letter writing and other tasks. These include a supportive presence to patients, reading to patients, listening to music with patients, assisting with housekeeping and meals, playing board games, going on walks, and providing relief.

DOCTORS

Our doctors direct and approve all care plans. They coordinate the care with the whole team.
