At Orange Hospice, a team of professionals will work with patients to help them regain as much balance and mobility as possible. We also work hard to give our patients as much autonomy as possible for a dignified living experience.
Our physical care includes:
Pain Management
Your loved ones may experience excruciating pain in their sunset years. When they complain about pain, our team looks into it immediately and offers the best remedies. At this stage of their lives, alleviating their pain is our top priority.
Breathing Relief
In the latter year of life, breathing difficulties are a common occurrence. We do everything possible to help your loved one stay in the best position to alleviate breathing problems. We can easily provide oxygen regulators and tanks to anyone who needs it. Additionally, we ensure that their room’s ventilation is working. We also offer pain relieving medication if pain is the cause of their breathing problems.
Skin Care
During the end of life, patients may be confined to their bed for prolonged periods. Our team checks for skin problems like bed sores and skin breakouts. We will take care of any wounds and will provide feet care. We also offer ointments that are designed to soothe their skin. Other interventions include shifting patients to prevent sores from occurring.
Gastric Problems
Eating difficulty is common during the sensitive stage of your loved one’s life. Sometimes, they can experience vomiting, nausea, and even constipation. We monitor all our patients for gastric issues to provide medication as soon as possible. Additionally, we prescribe meals that are appropriate to their situation.

Your loved one can also become extra sensitive to temperature changes. Sometimes, they may not tell you about it. As a result, we monitor them for clues of this problem. For instance, they may pull up their covers or remove blankets covering them. Depending on our observations, we can make the proper adjustments.
Continuous Care
When necessary, our capable team provides round-the-clock care called “continuous care.” Our team works 24-hour shifts to provide close-quarter care when needed. This intensive care may be necessary during periods of acute symptoms. If someone that you love needs hospice care, know that they can receive intensive 24-hour continuous care during times of crisis.
Continuous care is often recommended for crises such as:
- Trouble breathing
- Uncontrolled pain
- Bouts of vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea that won’t let up
- Changes in consciouses
- Agitation or restlessness
- Seizures
Safety
Our team assesses the patient’s environment to ensure it is safe for the patient to prevent falls and injuries, that all medical equipment is working properly, that the caregivers are properly educated about how to operate it, that the patient and family know how to take their medications properly and educate the patient’s family and caregiver about how to manage various symptoms that may occur.
A Team-Based Approach
At Orange Hospice, we use a team-based approach to physical care. We coordinate with physicians and doctors, case managers, nurses, pharmacies, medical equipment and supply vendors, and caregivers to make sure your loved one is taken of. This ensures that your loved one doesn’t experience physical discomfort so they can focus on enjoying their remaining time.
